Meet Our Fall 2014 Interns!

We have lots of great people assisting us in the OAES School Library Media Center.  Read about them below!

Alex Lampp:

Ms. Alex Lampp is a second year, M.A. student at the University of Georgia. She has a bachelor’s degree in English and is currently pursuing a graduate degree in language and literacy education. She is planning on becoming a reading specialist after graduation in May and possibly even a media specialist in the future. Alex loves to play with her dog, Max, hike in the North Georgia mountains, read (Her favorite book is Howard’s End.), bake, and travel. She is very excited to be an intern this year and looks forward to seeing students get excited about reading!

Kaitlin Taylor:

Ms. Kaitlin Taylor is a fourth year student at the University of Georgia. She will graduate in May with a bachelor’s degree in English, and she hopes to become a children’s librarian someday. When she’s not in the OAES library, you can find her reading—The Catcher in the Rye is her favorite book—or volunteering around Athens with her best friends. Her favorite thing to do in Athens is catch concerts downtown because she loves learning about new local music. She also loves to travel–this picture was taken in London! Kaitlin is so excited about the opportunity to help out in the library and can’t wait to hear about everyone’s favorite things to read!

Caitlin Clark:

Ms. Caitlin Clark is a third year student at the University of Georgia majoring in English. She hopes to go into publishing after graduation. She loves to read, crochet, and play music (guitar, violin, viola, and piano). Her favorite book is hard to say (there’s so many good ones!), but if she had to choose she would say George Orwell’s 1984. Her mother was a librarian at Chattahoochee Elementary School for 13 years, and she grew up in their library. She loves to shelve books and catalogue new books. She couldn’t imagine a life without books and is excited about getting children to be as interested in reading as she is.

Thaxton Scott:

Mr. Thaxton Scott is a fourth year student at the University of Georgia. He is majoring in Advertising and minoring in Communication Studies. After graduation, he hopes to attain a position in the Marketing/Strategic Planning department at a Fortune 500 Company. When not studying, he enjoys reading, eating, swimming, and socializing. His favorite book of all time is the Catcher in the Rye. Mr. Thaxton is so excited to be part of this year’s Oglethorpe Avenue Elementary School’s media center staff!

Jennifer Brown:

Ms. Jennifer Brown is a fourth year student at the University of Georgia. She will graduate in May with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies. When’s she’s not reading her textbooks, she can be found reading one of her favorite stories from her very large stack of books in her apartment. While she loves all of her books very much, her most favorite one is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë. Ms. Jennifer is very excited to be interning at OAES this semester, and hopes that she can inspire kids to love reading just like she was when she was their age!
