Curriculum Night Fun!

Hi families,

We are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow at Curriculum Night! Please stop by and visit the library (cottage 904, next to the 4th and 5th grade academy).  We have a fun activity planned- creating a shelf talker celebrating your favorite book!  You can also just look around the library or find out ways families can be involved in our school library program.

We loved watching the eclipse! Don’t know what to do with your eclipse glasses?  You can recycle them in the front office or the media center.  We will send them to Astronomers Without Borders, who will send them to schools in Asia and South America- they will experience the eclipse in 2019. Check out the cool pictures of the sun’s shadow in the slideshow. Notice how it rotates!

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 12th!  In conjunction with National Library Card Sign Up Month, Oglethorpe will be celebrating a special night Night at The Library! Mr. Bush will share “The Great Antonio” a fun program for all ages (including Pre-K and K) about how to discern between fact and fiction and fabulous people. This event will take place from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

Have you been reading at night?  Don’t forget to turn in your reading log! Logs were due August 22.  Find out all about our Reading Rock Stars Program here.

Welcome Back! Reading Rock Star Info

Welcome back!  I hope you had a great summer! I’m looking forward to seeing all of you on August 9th.

If you read this summer on your own, or if you took part in the summer reading program at Athens-Clarke County Library, please turn in your reading logs to your homeroom teacher by Tuesday, August 15th. Your reading log could be either a certificate from the library OR a list of the books you read.

In case you are new to our school, we have a reading program called the Reading Rock Stars. We ask students to read each night and write down what you read. Each class will set their own reading goal; usually this is to read a half hour each night. August reading logs are due Tuesday, August 22nd.

Don’t know what to read?  Check out our summer reading lists.

Happy reading!
