Black History Month Celebration

We have the best Black History Month celebrations here at Oglethorpe! This year’s performance was amazing.¬† Check¬†out this video.

Here in the library we have been enjoying reading about Mae Jemison, Melba Liston, Trombone Shorty, the youngest marcher, Audrey Faye Hendricks, the women from Hidden Figures, John Coltrane, and Sojourner Truth. Many more great titles can be found on our display shelves.

Tom Watson Author Visit- February 5th

Recently we had an incredible visit with Tom Watson, author of Stick Dog. During the presentation Tom showed the kids how he drew Stick Dog. He had them draw along with him. We also loved Tom’s jokes!

We added almost 50 Stick Dog books to the collection. They don’t stay on the shelves!

Big thanks to Avid Bookshop and Tom Watson for making this visit happen!
