Books for Keeps was the best!

The best thing about being a public school librarian at a Title I school in Athens, GA is knowing that each of my students K-5 is going to receive 12 free books to help prevent summer slide, courtesy of local organization Books for Keeps. I can’t explain the magic any better than I did in this video back in 2015, when founder Melaney Smith was nominated for a L’Oreal Woman of Worth award.

Books for Keeps visited our school April 29-30th. Every child grades K-5 was able to take home 12 free books, a feat made possible by fundraising they do all year. It only costs $30 to sponsor a child. If you would like to donate, please visit their site.
