This year every student grades 3-5 checked out a PLD (personal learning device). These devices are to be used to enhance educational experiences and to support district learning objectives. With these devices, our students will be able to access information, create, collaborate, and communicate.
All students K-5 have access to PLDs. Students K-2 will use a device checked out to their teacher.
The OAES Media and Technology Committee developed a set of PLD Protocol Guidelines. Students need to follow these guidelines whenever and wherever they utilize their PLDs. These guidelines were developed using the Innovative Digital Learning Environments Handbook created by Clarke County School District.
In October, students grades 3-5 will have the option of carrying their device home. The device must return with the student each day, fully charged. Before a student is allowed to take a device home, her or his parent or guardian must complete training. Our first training is scheduled for Thursday, September 18 at 5:00 p.m.
