Learning to Use the Library

Welcome back, Wildcats! It’s been great to see you!

Last week was our first week back in the library. We watched our orientation video, discussed the different sections of the library,  and discussed how to love our library.  After we practiced using our shelf markers, we checked out books.

This week we have been enjoying going on a scavenger hunt in the library. It’s a fun way to review how to find materials.  Soon we will be using the same strategy to learn about different kinds of books in the Dewey Decimal section. The best part- our library is organized the same as Athens- Regional Library  Learning about our library will help us find books there.

We’ve also been discussing the importance of reading daily. We have to practice our reading in order toget better. We are all logging our reading this year. We are recognizing our August Reading Rock Stars Friday.  Don’t forget to turn in your reading log!

If you want to see what I (Mrs. Sugiuchi) am reading, check out my reading log.  It’s posted on the wall by the Smart Board.
